Majors and Minors: Personal Interests
Suppose you are offered Pizza and Pasta together. What would you choose?
I’d rather choose Pastizza! Fun, right?
Similarly, at Ashoka you don’t just pick a major, but make your own academic menu! It offers you the choice to study interdisciplinary subjects together.
Deep dive into the field you love, maybe Finance, Psych, Maths etc… and then you can add something different, maybe a minor in creative writing (because who says that finance majors can’t write poetry?). If you still feel ambitious then you can go for a double major as well!
Interdisciplinary programmes
Interdisciplinary Programmes are like a mash-up of your favourite songs. Interdisciplinary Majors integrate complementary fields of study and introduce innovative methods for delving into specific subject areas, providing students with a Bachelor’s degree. Some of the fan-favourite programmes include:
Politics, Philosophy and Economics
Computer Science and Entrepreneurship
Environmental Studies
These are like tailor-made playlists with a blend of different songs, ultimately making Ashoka a playground for curious minds.
Co-curricular Courses
Co-curricular Courses are a mixture of practical training in an art form or a language and
critical analysis of the aesthetic, social, political, economic, and historical dimensions of the same. Students have to take 2 co-curricular courses as part of their graduation requirements; in any semester, a student can take a maximum of 1 co-curricular course.
Ashoka isn’t just about grades and hitting books- it's about having a new experience at every step of life, be it bitter or sweet. These courses can be a ticket to exploring passions you never knew. From jamming to music to snapping shots in photography, you name it, and you get to pursue it!
ASHOKA UNIVERSITY'S Experiential Learning Module
This focuses on providing hands-on experience to the students so that they get ready for the real world. The students work on real-world problems from diverse sectors in collaboration with Partner Organisations and Institutions.
It may include internships, research projects, capstone projects, etc.
The Credit System: Flexibility is the key
The credit system is like a safety net, which lets you try out new things without stressing over grades.
Each course comes with a set standard credits, achieve those and you are good to go.
If there is too much pressure, then you can opt for the pass/fail option on some courses without worrying about the grades.
